Capcom’s Q1 2010 Exodus Could Delay Future Games

Capcom wisely moved key releases like Lost Planet 2 and Super Street Fighter IV out of the overcrowded 2010 first quarter and into the following fiscal year. A strategic decision, which would be in vain if their next term was overcrowded with spillover games.

Capcom is aware of this potential issue and addressed it on a Q&A conference call. “However, due to the delay in the launch of titles originally scheduled for this fiscal year, we may not introduce all of the titles that are planned for the next fiscal year. Consequently, we will have to reexamine the title lineup in the next fiscal year and afterward from the standpoint of achieving sustained growth.”

An obvious decision, but which titles could be delayed? Capcom hasn’t said much about their fiscal year 2011 (April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011) lineup. Major titles on the 2011 slate now include Monster Hunter Tri (Western release), Lost Planet 2, Super Street Fighter IV and Dead Rising 2.
