The mode is called “Rise of New Champions” in the Japanese version. It is an original story mode where you use the character creator to make your own protagonist. After making a hero, the next thing you’ll need to do is pick a school. You’ll have three choices out of Toho Academy, Musashi Middle, and Furano Middle. Each route has its own set of characters you’ll encounter and events to check out.

In this original story mode, there’s a new tournament called the “New Hero League”. You’ll participate in this tournament using various special moves that your character learns from various characters from the anime.

For those of you who want to relive the Captain Tsubasa story experience, the regular story mode features Tsubasa Ozora and everyone else from his Nankatsu Middle School days, so the game basically has it all as far as the story goes.

Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions will release for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in 2020. Check out the latest gameplay trailer featuring iconic and flashy moves in our previous report.
