Cathedral casts players out into an 8-bit world, tasking them with helping an unnamed knight regain his memories and abilities by fighting monsters and combing through dungeons.
Cathedral “takes you back to the roots of NES gaming”, putting players in a world where they must figure out what to do and where to go. Filled with towns, dungeons, and secret locations, it’s up to the player to decide where they should go, using the abilities and powers they find along the way to further open up new paths and opportunities.
The knight’s sword can be used to lash out at the various enemies and bosses he’ll encounter on his journey, slashing to the side or plunging downward for a pogo-style attack similar to Shovel Knight and Ducktales. The knight will also gain other means of attack hidden in each world, and these abilities will also be used to solve puzzles or discover secrets.
A Greenlight campaign for Cathedral is set to begin soon. At the moment, there is no set release date for the game.
