Being the daughter of millionaires, one of the strongest Level 5 espers, and the star of her own manga, anime, and video game, you’d expect A Certain Scientific Railgun’s Misaka Mikoto to have all sorts of opportunities available to her. Cicero225’s fan mod for Civilization: Beyond Earth offers her a chance to be a Sponsor for one of the space faring civilizations, and it works better than you’d expect.
Most of the Misaka Beyond Earth Sponsor features are callbacks to A Certain Magical Index and A Certain Scientific Railgun. As an Electromaster, Level 5 and Chairman of the Board of the Neo-Academy City, she gets special benefits come into play when you reach level seven in Harmony, Purity, or Supremacy. There’s a natural wonder that gives +1 population, +1 health, you get energy from killing enemies, and a free Surveillance Web and Cloning Plants that add +2 food and health at level seven Harmony. Purity at level seven gives you culture from defeated enemies, +1 movement to all military units, and +20% military production. You get the Unique Railgun Launcher building that adds +10 orbital coverage, a Desolator Satellite to reduce yields in a 7 hex area, and academies maintain themselves at level seven Supremacy.
The Misaka Beyond Earth mod also adds some additional options when starting the game that touch on her technological prowess. You can choose Esper Training to give Colonists +25% speed, use Manifest Reality as a Spacecraft option to ensure a source of firaxite, floatstone, and xenomass is near Neo-Academy City when you found it, start with a Weather Controller satellite, Phasal Transporter satellite, or Orbital Fabricator satellite as Cargo.
Cicero225 is still working on the Misaka Mikoto Academy City Sponsor, so there’s more to come to this Civilization: Beyond Earth mod. Custom quests and a level 3 spy mission will be added. There will also be leader portraits to reflect the Harmony, Purity, and Supremacy paths. Also, if you launch a Desolator, you’ll be condemned.
To install the A Certain Scientific Railgun mod to Civilization: Beyond Earth, you can click the subscribe button in the Steam Workshop. Or, you can download it separately and place items from the zip file in Documents\My Games\Sid Meier’s Civilization Beyond Earth\MODS. It currently doesn’t work with the Rising Tide expansion.
