League selection is now open for the Champions Meeting: Taurus Cup in the global version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby and even if you can’t put together a “strong” team before the actual competition starts, you should definitely give it a run anyway for the rewards. Here are some basic strategies to point you in the right direction if you haven’t been training up any Umas for the global server’s first PvP event.
What is the Taurus Cup?
The Taurus Cup, or Champions Meeting, is one of the many different PvP events that Cygames puts out in Umamusume. Though you enter a team of three, only one Umamusume needs to cross the finish line first to get you your win (as opposed to the League of Heroes event currently happening on the Japanese server, where you ideally want all three of your Umamusume to make it onto the podium every race).
Theoretically, your team should consist of one or two debuff Umas to “poison” your opponents, while your “main Uma” takes advantage of that weakness to cross the finish line first. Aim for a minimum of 700 STA, and supplement with recovery skills. Debuffers will destroy your Umamusume if you fall under this.
The Taurus Cup conditions are:
- Tokyo Turf; 2400 m (Medium); Left
- Spring, Sunny, Firm Ground
With these parameters in mind, you can start building the perfect team to tackle the Taurus Cup.
Best Umamusume for the August 2025 Taurus Cup in Umamusume: Pretty Derby
As a reminder, Umamusume: Pretty Derby is not one of those purely meta games where you absolutely need a specific character. You can tackle the Champions Meet with your favorite if you want.

While Maruzensky is not on the list (too many Mile-oriented innate skills), she is a fantastic legacy Uma for the Taurus Cup with her unique Red Shift/LP1211-M skill. If you don’t have access to Maruzensky for inheritance, use this site to find one.
