Gamerscoreblog has a pack of photos of the text input device, which plugs in where you put your headset. It looks a little bulky, but it’s hard to tell if it’s going to be the same weight as a sidekick. Since the text input device takes the headset port, it ships with a new headset so you can IM and should “Pizza Time!” while playing TMNT: the arcade game. Cool looking backlit buttons aside, will you really send IMs over Xbox Live? It’s a neat feature, but a feature that I hope I can turn off. I don’t really want people sending me messages asking me to “see their Pokemanz” while I’m playing Lost Planet and I definitely don’t want pop up indicators interrupting the ending of Blue Dragon. Also you have to pay to get the text input device or pick up a USB keyboard because sending IMs through the virtual keyboard can be very painful. Do you plan to use the integrated Windows Live Messenger on your 360 when it comes out this Spring or do you think the text input device is worthless until a MMORPG supports it?
