Yes, Square Enix is localizing the Nintendo Wii Chocobo’s Mysterious Dungeon game and to my relief they are using the Final Fantasy Fables branding too. We get the cutesy rougelike on July 8th. Unlike Square Enix’s other recent releases no extra content has been announced at this time. However, Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Dungeon will only cost $39.99, a bargain compared to the 6,800 yen ($68) price tag in Japan.

The quest has the Cid and the Chocobo (mostly the chocobo) explore dungeons created with the memories of the townsfolk. While the Chocobo works alone he is aided by job classes many of which we have screenshots of. You can’t switch jobs on the fly. The Chocobo must touch a save crystal to change from say a black mage to a knight. More jobs like the knowledgeable scholar and stealthy ninja can be unlocked by discovering letters or inputting phrases.

Since this is a Wii game mini-games are a must. Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Dungeon has them sitting in a Mog House. Also the collectable card pop-up battles from Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales return with Nintendo Wi-Fi play. Yeah!
