Chibi Maruko Chan Dream Stage Has Been Localized

A mobile game based on a classic anime has received an official localization. Chibi Maruko Chan Dream Stage is immediately available on Apple iOS and Android devices. It is a completely free-to-play game with no in-app purchases, however you are still limited to how many puzzles you can play in a certain amount of time and need to watch ads or play to earn diamonds for extra play time and items.

In Chibi Maruko Chan Dream Stage, players attempt to help Maruko and her friends become superstars. You play match-3 games by chaining together gems with pictures of Maruko and her friends on them. Doing well in this “talent show” allows you to earn higher scores and unlock new abilities for each characters. There are 21 characters to unlock, and 30 people from the show act as judges.

Chibi Maruko-chan’s original series follows a little girl living in Japan in 1974. She’s rather precocious, and the events of the daily life manga and anime are based upon author Momoko Sakura’s real life. While the manga has never received an official localization, both of the anime series based on it have.
