Civilization VII Has a Dog Mascot in Japan

2K Japan and Firaxis introduced Civ Dog in Japan, the new official promotional ambassador and mascot for Sid Meier’s Civilization VII. Civ Dog is an original character rendered in a cute chibi design, and it is based on the dogs that accompany the Scouts recon unit in the series.

Civ Dog will appear throughout various channels to promote Civilization VII in Japan, such as official social media accounts and on promotional videos. Additionally, the name Civ Dog can also be read in Japanese as “Shiv Inu,” which might be a pun on the Shiba Inu Japanese breed of dogs.

2K Japan and Firaxis described Civ Dog as a character who loves be on the move and travelling all throughout the year, and he gets very excited when finding a Wonder or a Cultural Heritage. However, Civ Dog is very territorial and doesn’t allow people from outside his group to enter his territory. His hobbies include gathering resources using a dowsing stick shaped like a number 7, as well as preparing quizzes on history and cultural heritages to relax.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII will come out on February 11, 2025 for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC.
