Clarity on Final Fantasy XIII

Some new details about Square-Enix’s Fabula Nova Crystallis project:

Final Fantasy XIII

The main character is called “Lightning” and there are two sides of the world. There is the fortress known as “Cocoon” which is the technologically advanced world seen in the trailer. Below is Pulse which is lush and full of trees, the picture on the left shows the crystals emitting energy on Pulse around Lightning. Supposedly this energy gives people the chance to bend their destiny and Lightning has a chance to do this. Summoned creatures appear in Final Fantasy XIII too and it looks like XIII is going back to the traditional stars. Shiva can be summoned, but she also turns into a motorcycle. XIII also introduces a new Overclock status which lets Lightning and presumably other characters move around similar to bullet time.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII

There is still a lot of mystery about Final Fantasy Versus XIII, except for the male protagonist fighting groups of soldiers. These screenshots show him riding in a luxury car driving to a battle site. He also has telekinetic control of groups of weapons like swords and spears. It is rumored that the characters name is “Storm”, but that is unconfirmed. There is also some speculation that he is in the Cocoon. Unlike Final Fantasy XIII, Versus XIII is going to be more action oriented.
