Clever Xbox 360 Platformer Is A DLC Satire

DLC Quest starts out like a typical RPG story where a bad guy kidnaps a princess, but before you can save her you have to "purchase" a movement pack to jump and walk to the left. Purchase is in quotes because you don’t have to buy anything (other than the game) with real money, you just have to collect coins. These are scattered on platforms and in secret caches behind false walls.

There isn’t anything to fight in DLC Quest – unless you pick up the zombie pack and your character doesn’t even have animations at the beginning. Your hero will slide unless you spend five virtual coins to get the animation pack. While some "DLC" is required to move forward, DLC Quest also has enhancements like the silly sexy outfit pack that makes all of the NPCs wear bikinis and optional top hats. Pay close attention and you might even see a Cloud cameo!

DLC Quest is available now in the Indie Games section of Xbox Live for 80 Microsoft Points ($1).
