Bandai Namco shared the latest details on the upcoming action RPG Code Vein in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine, with info on a new character and the Blood Code class system. [Thanks, Game Jouhou.]

Nikola Karnstein (CV: Hiromi Igarashi): Mia’s younger sister. She’ll stand up against anyone for her older sister Mia. [Note: Game Jouhou mentions that Nikola is a younger sister, but in Mia’s official profile it mentions her having a younger brother but nothing about a sister. We’ll have a better idea once we get a first look.]

Update: Nikola is indeed Mia’s younger brother. [Thanks, RPGSite.]

A new Revenant equipment called Ivy is scarf-like Blood Veil. Its regular blood sucking attack can hit numerous enemies from a distance with its thorns. This Blood Veil changes its attacks while parrying enemy attacks.

The magazine also shared some new character upbringing elements starting with “Haze” that is experience points dropped by enemies you’ve defeated (think Dark Souls). These points are also consumed to level up. When defeated by enemies your Haze remains at the spot of death and can be retrieved as long as you get there without dying.

Lastly, there’s information on piece of equipment that is exclusive to the protagonist called “Blood Code.” Revenants have their own special blood types, and those who recover a blood crystal can retrieve its memories along with a Blood Code that can be equipped. This allows the user to take advantage of the “Forged Blood” that is characterized by the previous owner.

Blood Codes work similar to job classes in RPGs, where you have the “Ranger” that has a focus in survival, the “Hunter” that specializes in attacking enemies from a distance, the “Berserk” that excels at close-ranged combat, and more.

Code Vein releases in early 2018 for  PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
