After reading the disheartening report about the Freeloader I went to check if this wasn't a region problem. I put my version 1.0 US Freeloader in my US Wii and got the same error message. Did Nintendo purposely void the Freeloader? I'm not so sure about that, but there are some mod chips that require configuration discs. Nintendo may have been trying to foil those devices. However, inadvertently (or adventively?) the Freeloader's dual boot method does not work anymore. Has anyone tried one of the new "Wii Friendly" Freeloaders? If those don't work I guess it's time to dust off your Gamecube if you want to play Battle Stadium D.O.N. or other imports.
Probably the biggest downside to the news is if Datel is working on a Wii Freeloader, Nintendo has shown the have the power to disable the device at anytime.
