Copper Dreams Brings Tactical Cyberpunk Stealth To Kickstarter

Players won’t be able to shrug off damage as they play through tactical stealth CRPG Copper Dreams, which is now raising funds on Kickstarter. Instead, getting hit creates wounds that drain their stats and abilities, weakening the very powers players will need to stay alive.

Players take on the role of an “Agent of Asset Inquiries” on an off-world, US-owned colony called Calitana. Your task is to sneak into other corporations, stealing their secrets and spying on them, but along the way, you may discover things much worse than corporate espionage.

Players will have many tools to use to sneak into and out of places without getting caught. Any building or location on the map can be accessed, so players can go through windows, up buildings, and just about anywhere in the environment they would need to go to access an area or get the drop on their enemies.

Surprising enemies is especially important since Copper Dreams doesn’t use a hit point system. Instead, players receive lesser, greater, and mortal wounds to parts of their body when they take a hit. Even if these wounds don’t kill the player, they do place drains on stats and abilities, slowing the player down or making them more likely to miss a shot. Not only this, but healing takes time when outside of missions, and passing too much time can change conditions on your next mission.

Staying hidden is far preferable. Players can creep around environments, hugging boxes and staying in cover to stay out of their enemies’ lines of sight. They’ll need to take care to be quiet as well, as enemies will also listen for disturbances and things that are out of place. The player can guide these enemies away from them with distractions by shooting out cameras, reprogramming robots, or fiddling with the electrical grid, though.

Saving isn’t even safe in Copper Dreams. Players save the game using a radio, but they will not be able to do so in open-air conditions where it can make contact with a tower. Enemies can also intercept these transmissions, homing in on them to attack players who are trying to save.

The developers of Copper Dreams are trying to raise $40000 through Kickstarter for the game’s development. They are also seeking votes on Steam Greenlight.
