Sol Press launched a Kickstarter for cult visual novel title Irotoridori no Sekai last month, with a goal of $85,000 to fund an official English localization that is set to launch on PC via Steam and Sol Press’ digital distribution platform Hyourin. With time running out, the Kickstarter succeeded today with $85,359 total funded by 873 backers, just barely crossing over the finish line.
Irotoridori no Sekai is the first game in a trilogy that includes Irotoridori no Hikari and Akai Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai as well, and while localization for the other two games were stretch goals, they were not met. Irotoridori no Sekai is about a boy named Kanoue Yuuma, who has a mysterious power called ‘Translucent Magician’ that can heal wounds at the cost of his memories. The story takes place on the seaside town of Kazatsuguhama, where there seems to be a link to another realm entirely.
With the Kickstarter now complete, Sol Press’ goal is to have the game’s localized version out in early 2020, assuming there aren’t any complications. Two versions of the game will be released – a Standard Edition that contains some mosaic censorship, and a Director’s Cut edition featuring everything.
Irotoridori no Sekai released in Japan for PC back in 2011, and got a PlayStation Vita port in 2015. The game is now officially headed worldwide in English, with an estimated 2020 release window.
