NIS America have the first two games in the Danganronpa series locked for North America. Spike Chunsoft is also developing a brand new Danganronpa game and Danganronpa: Another Episode has a different take on word bullets. Early footage from the Vita game showed a character using microphone to fire words at Monokumas.

Danganronpa: Another Episode takes place between Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. Remember Makoto Naegi, the protagonist in Trigger Happy Havoc? His sister is the main character in Another Episode.

“We originally thought about creating a new character, but since it takes place between the first and second game, we thought it would be easier to enter this world if the player already had a character they were at least a little fond of,” producer Yoshinori Terasawa explained to Siliconera. “Also, we thought that just by having Makoto’s sister as the main character, that would naturally create some questions and expectations in the player’s mind.”

Siliconera followed up and asked Terasawa if the team has started work on a proper sequel, a third Danganronpa game.

Terasawa replied, “We are absolutely thinking about making a third Danganronpa, but we haven’t decided on anything specific just yet. I’m still talking with the rest of our staff about what we could do. I don’t know when we might be able to actually announce anything, so please wait patiently for that!”
