A Few More Details On Soaring In Pokémon Omega Ruby And Alpha Sapphire

The Pokémon Company recently shared the latest trailer for Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, which showed off the new “Soar” feature that lets you fly around the skies in the overworld. The official website in Japan shares some more details on how Soaring works.

 

Up until now, players traveled across the world of Pokémon through grassy fields, forests, caves, roads, and sea. Now, players will get to travel across the skies in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, and there are some unique features to this ability.

In addition to being able to travel across the fields in the sky, there places that you can only reach while flying, along with unique Pokémon that are found in the sky as well.

The “Soar” feature becomes available later on in the game, and you’ll get to freely travel around the skies of the Hoenn region. While Soaring, the bottom screen shows the map, and you’ll get to keep track of your location while exploring the skies.

There are all kinds of special sites such as volcanoes on top of mountains and ships sailing the seas, that you can see while Soaring.

There are various action you can do such as accelerating while in mid-air. Depending on the time of day, you’ll also see the difference in weather and other atmospheric changes. You’ll also get to land wherever you want, whether it’s in town or the middle of a field.

In order to use the “Soar” feature, you’ll need to first get a hold of the “Infinity Flute,” which is used to call out Latios and Latias.

This time around, Latios and Latias will join your party as part of the story, where you’ll have to help them out at a certain island. Once you get either one of them to join your party, along with the Infinity Flute, the sky is the limit!

 

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will be released on November 21st in North America and November 28th in Europe.
