Once again, outside circumstances have negatively affected the English release of Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna. Instead of experiencing another adventure with Tai, Matt, Agumon, and Gabumon on July 7, 2020, people will have to wait. Shout! Factory told Anime News Network that “a production delay” has pushed back the debut of the Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna Blu-ray and DVD combo pack.

This is the second time issues related to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic have had a negative effect on Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna. The movie was supposed to appear in select theaters in the US back on March 25, 2020. However, as the virus spread and many placed when on shelter-in-place orders, theaters closed in the name of public safety and the Fathom Event was canceled. After that, a physical release was planned. Shout! Factory was planning to release the Blu-ray and DVD combo pack for $26.99 on July 7, 2020.

Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna appeared in theaters in Japan in February 2020. It follows the same cast of characters who appeared in Digimon Adventure, Digimon Adventure 02, and Digimon Adventure tri. Where Digimon Adventure tri was the 15th anniversary project, this movie was the 20th anniversary project and looks at the Digidestined as they are about to grow up and see their friendships with their Digimon end when they do.
