Dirge of Cerberus and FFVII’s Weiss Joins Dissidia FFOO

The newest character in Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia is Weiss the Immaculate from Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and FFVII Remake. This is the first time he appeared as a playable character in one of the Compilation of FFVII games. He’ll be available starting on August 16, 2023. Jouji Nakata returns to voice him.

With how Dissidia FFOO works, you won’t need to pay to recruit the character. Instead, we need to go through specific story missions or get one of his weapons either by using earned in-game currency to trade for one or via the weapon gacha. In game, he’s part of Act 4, Chapter 4, Part 1. This version of Weiss should look familiar, as his design pulls from elements of his Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and FFVII Remake design. The character appeared as an antagonist in both games, though in the latter he only showed up in the Shinra Combat Simulator after the Yuffie Intermission DLC and Intergrade version appeared.

Here’s the introductory trailer revealing Weiss in Dissidia FFOO. It only shows his base appearance. Based on what we know from the Japanese version of the game, where he appeared in February 2023, there will also be a paid costume of him wearing his white jacket. It begins by showing some story elements before heading into an in-battle showcase.

He’s the second Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII character to appear in the mobile game. The first was Shelke the Transparent.

Dissidia FFOO is available on mobile devices. Weiss the Immaculate and his weapons will join the game on August 16, 2023.
