The original Disgaea is getting one more port next year. NIS America is going to bring the strategic RPG that has spawned five mainstream installments, as well as action games starring the Prinnies and a visual novel, to Windows PCs next year. To help people prepare, the company has released a two minute Disgaea PC trailer that reintroduces its three main characters.
Disgaea PC stars a young overlord named Laharl, who’s woken up from a two year nap to learn his father is dead, the kingdom is scattered, and he has to prove himself to retake the kingdom. He’s “aided” by Etna, a fellow demon who alternates from wanting to get Laharl out of the way so she can rule to occasionally aiding. Eventually, a heavenly assassin named Flonne comes down to the netherworld on orders to kill his father, sees it’s already done, and decides to stick around to see if demons can love.
The Disgaea PC trailer also provides a first look at the port in action, showcasing the updated graphics and user interface. It also reminds people that lifting and throwing can help provide strategic advantages in certain situations and shows off some of the characters’ special skills.
Disgaea PC currently has a February 2016 release window for Windows PCs. Disgaea: Hour of Darkness was first released in 2003 for the PlayStation 2.
