Square Enix is hosting a tournament for Dissidia Final Fantasy on arcade, where they’ll reveal a new character that has yet to appear in a past Dissidia game, along with info on a new Final Fantasy smartphone game.


The tournament that will take place on August 27 is going to be a major national tournament in Japan, which will also feature a special session from Square Enix. The tournament will feature the top 16 teams that made it through 122 shops out of 16 areas in Japan.


During the special session, they’ll announce a new character that has yet to appear in a past Dissidia Final Fantasy game and will join the arcade fighter, along with new content called “Battle of the Gods” featuring the gods Chaos and Cosmos. Additionally, new info on Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: All Star Carnival will be announced, along with a new Final Fantasy series smartphone game and more.


The tournament will start at 1:15pm through 4:30pm JST, while the special session with announcements will start at 5:00pm through 7:30pm JST. The event will feature Sqaure Enix staff which includes Ichiro Hazama, Takeo Kujiraoka, and Tetsuya Nomura.


Dissidia Final Fantasy is currently available on arcade in Japan.
