DJMax Technika Q Is Is Out For iOS In The U.S.

With crazy fast music that is. The DJ Max series from Korean devs Planet Team (made up of ex-staff from original series creators Pentavision) are pretty well known for working your fingers to the bone in their rhythm game when played on their harder difficulties. It really was just a matter of time before one of these games showed up after DJ Max Ray on smartphones.

Case in point: DJ Max Technika Q first came out in arcades, and the English US release on iOS is now here.

The game has some 50 different songs to choose from and features fast-paced, rock, house, electronic and other such DJ-styled synth music to jam (your fingers) to. The twist in Technika Q is in how the board is laid out. Instead of the traditional DJ Max-style down-scrolling bars that you’ll press when they cross a bottom line, the screen is now split in half. Music will track across the top half from left to right, and then immediately after on the bottom screen from right to left. Think Lumines, but with you having to physically hit buttons in time with where the line is at.

As part of the change, there are new kinds of challenge buttons that will be thrown your way—which it might be easier to express with the above crazy video of a Korean user perfectly playing through one of the songs, “Thor”. Like in all DJ Max games, you’ll also be able to customize the board’s notes and effects with a bevy of parts you’ll unlock while playing. Technika Q will also track songs played in real time against leaderboards.

DJ Max Technika Q is available now on iOS, and probably soon enough for Android. (If you can’t wait, the Korean Android version is here)
