Square Enix is releasing Dragon Quest Heroes II in Japan in a little over a week, and the company shared another look at some of its multiplayer features for the upcoming PS4, PS3, and PS Vita action RPG.
Dragon Quest Heroes II features both cross-play and cross-save, meaning that players will get to play multiplayer with other players across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita. As for cross-save, that means you can use the same save data to play across all three platforms.
In Dragon Quest Heroes II you’ll have two main modes for multiplayer. As previously reported, you’ll get to cooperate with with other players to help out in story mode, or visit the “Space-Time Labyrinth” to take on powerful enemies with a group of up to four players for a chance to get some sweet rewards.
In Story Battles, you’ll get to help other players out. You can also recruit up to three players that will join you as party members from Rikka’s Inn.
“Labyrinth Maps” that are found in the story or through downloads are needed to enter the Space-Time Labyrinth. Once you have one, you’re able to challenge it with a party of four players. It is also possible to challenge it on your own and take NPC characters with you instead.
There are ways to set frequently used phrases and stamps for communicating with other players.
The following are the characters from the first Dragon Quest Heroes will be available as as free downloadable characters, and they’ll be exclusive to the Space-Time Labyrinth:
Yangus and Nera
Bianca and Luceus
Aurora and Isla
King Doric and Psaro
The Space-Time Labyrinth is where you’ll encounter powerful enemies that may have given you troubles during your adventure. You might also run into a special monsters called the “Space-Time Guardians.” These guys are extra strong and will surely provide you and your party a nice challenge. Here’s a look at some of the Space-Time Guardians:
Balzack
Using its icy breath, the Balzack is able to freeze targets that come into contact with it.
Robbin’ ‘oodlum
A crafty thief that pretends to beg for forgiveness and attacks if you let your guard down.
Stone Guardian
It uses its powerful ground-shaking stomps to attack nearby enemies.
Dragon Quest Heroes II will release in Japan on May 27, 2016 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.
