Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca’s Marvelous Mysterious Key has over 800 monsters from the series plus additional monsters you can create. There are three usual sizes for monsters S, M, and G. Dragon Quest Monsters 2 for Nintendo 3DS adds a Super G size for monsters that are so big they take up all four slots on your team. Here’s a comparison of Empyrea, a G size monster, vs. a Super G size enemy.
New monsters from Dragon Quest X like the Queen Slime are in Dragon Quest Monsters 2 too.
Monsters in Dragon Quest Monsters 2 are visible on the field and in this game you can threaten monsters. If there’s a monster behind you can spook it by quickly turning around. This startles some monsters enough to make them run away and drop an item.
Crouching is a technique to use when a monster is chasing you. If you crouch the monster may just leave you alone, a useful move when you want to avoid battles.
Some monsters are out of reach, but you can provoke them by whistling.
And you can… make nearby monsters dance!
Luca and Iru can jump too. Each of them has their own jumping motion. But, why jump when you can fly? Dragon Quest Monsters 2 will give players this ability later in the game. You can also smash boulders to access other areas.
Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca’s Marvelous Mysterious Key is in development for Nintendo 3DS.
