Square Enix announced that the competitive digital trading card game Dragon Quest Rivals has surpassed 12 million downloads since its launch in Japan on November 2 for smartphones.
Last we heard, Dragon Quest Rivals hit the 10 million downloads mark on November 21, so the Dragon Quest take on Hearthstone and Shadowverse has been enjoying quite some success. Players will be given 1,200 Alchemy Stones and an Arena Ticket to those who log on from December 18 through December 25.
Square Enix also announced that Dragon Quest Rivals will begin hosting a weekly tournament called “Weekend Tournament” that will have players participate in single elimination format tournaments of up to 128 players on a first-come-first served basis.
Those who get in on a tourney will receive special digital card sleeves. The first one will take place as a beta tournament starting December 23 at 3:00pm JST. Registration starts momentarily at 6:00pm JST today, December 18.
Dragon Quest Rivals is available in Japan on iOS and Android.
