Square Enix is starting 2010 with two of their biggest franchises. Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie is due in stores on January 28, three weeks after Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep.

In Japan, over one million copies of Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride were sold in stores. It’s easy to imagine Dragon Quest VI doing just as well if not better, which could be a problem for other RPGs making their debut on the same day. Ar Tonelico III and End of Eternity are also slated for the 28th.

A North American release date for Dragon Quest VI has not been announced, but Square Enix confirmed they were publishing it. Perhaps, well see Dragon Quest VI in English for the first time next summer?
