Dragon Quest XI Introduces Its Female Martial Artist Martina, Rou, And More Battle Info

We won’t learn about Dragon Quest XI’s release date until April 11, but Square Enix shared new info on the game ahead of time with an introduction of two new characters and more of its battle system in this week’s issue of Jump magazine. [Thanks, Ruliweb, via Game Jouhou.]

Martina is a high-spirited female martial artist.

“I will protect everyone with you… that’s my fight!”

A mysterious old man characterized by his white moustache.

“I’ve been waiting for you all to arrive.”

The magazine has new battle details. The first one is the “Free Movement Battle” system that is part of the PS4 version of the game. This mode lets you freely move about—from character to viewpoint. There’s also the “Auto Camera Battle” that brings a sense of reality to the fight.

As for the 3DS version of Dragon Quest XI, it has “2D Mode” where you’ll get to see pixel art characters in battle. There’s also the “3D Mode” where you’ll get to see the lively characters in battle instead.

Both PS4 and 3DS versions of the game feature command-based battles. There’s also a new element that involves the protagonist bringing out a blue aura.
