Dragon Quest XI’s release in Japan is just a couple months away and Square Enix is getting ready for it with a special live stream on May 27 to kick off its Countdown Festival live demonstration event.

The Countdown Festival is basically a hands-on event that will be available across the five cities of Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Sapporo, and Tokyo from May 27 through July 17, where fans will get the first opportunity to try out Dragon Quest XI on PS4 and 3DS.

To kick the event off, Square Enix is hosting a special stage that will be available for live stream via YouTube and NicoNico Live on May 27 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm JST. It’ll feature the father of the Dragon Quest series Yuji Horii, producer Yosuke Saito, and others.

The live stream will include the latest development talk and new information on Dragon Quest XI. The demonstration event will include the “Everyone’s Slime Art Project” art project that showcases fan-drawn Slimes in motion, a photo booth, and other activities.

Osaka will host the event on May 27-28 at Abeno Q’s Mall B1F Circle Plaza. Fukuoka follows on June 10-11 at the Solaria Plaza. Nagoya’s mozo Wonder City East Court will have the event from June 17-18. The Sapporo Factory will get theirs on July 8-9, and Tokyo gets theirs last on July 16-17 at the Futako-Tamagawa Rise.

Dragon Quest XI releases in Japan on July 29 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS. The game is also in development for Nintendo Switch. Check out our previous report for a look at its latest screenshots showing more of its monster mounting system.
