The Dream Machine’s visuals are all crafted from ordinary objects, with the developer stating they used “materials such as clay, cardboard, broccoli and condoms.” to create every object and character in the game and world.
This hand-crafted style has loaned itself to a natural creepiness, setting the stage for the player to enter the minds of the neighbors in their apartment complex. In doing so, players can solve puzzles and explore their neighbors’ thoughts, learning more about them and slowly discovering more about the things that trouble them in their lives.
There is more to upset the neighbors than just their daily woes, though, as there is a greater threat in the form of The Dream Machine. This strange device is at the heart of what is upsetting and affecting all of the player’s neighbors, and over the course of the game’s multiple chapters, the player will slowly discover the heart of dreams and a means in which to stop The Dream Machine.
The final chapter of this eerie adventure game is available now, along with all of the previous chapters of The Dream Machine, through the developer’s site and Steam.
