After a delay from its original March target, AM3 plans to roll out the DS Vision package on June 26. For 3,980 yen ($38) you get a 512MB microSD card, a USB card reader and the DS Vision cartridge. A week later on July 3rd the content service goes live, which enables users in Japan to download full length movies, anime, manga and novels. The files are saved to a PC and need to be transferred to the microSD card to be used on the Nintendo DS.

Comics and novels cost anywhere between 100 – 600 yen ($1 – $5.50). Anime episodes and full length movies run for 500 yen – 1,000 yen ($5 – $9.50) a piece. The price for movies is actually pretty reasonable and if AM3 can bring the cost of manga down to 100 yen this service might do pretty well. However, AM3 faces serious competition from DS flash cartridges like the R4 which are already on the market.
