Dungeon Fighter Project DW Announced by Nexon

Nexon is developing a new game based on the Dungeon Fighter Online (a.k.a. Dungeon & Fighter or Arad Senki) setting, code-named Project DW. It is planned for release on consoles, PCs, and mobile platforms worldwide. No release window was specified. [Thanks, Denfaminico Gamer!]

At the moment, only the codename is known about Project DW. It has no formal title or assets to show, either. (Editor’s Note: The header image is from DNF Duel.) However, Nexon did say that it’s going to be an open-world action-RPG. It’ll support cross-play over its various platforms too.

Since its original release as Dungeon Fighter Online on PC in 2005 the Dungeon Fighter franchise has existed in various forms and on multiple platforms. The original game (popularly called DFO or DNF) is a side-scrolling multiplayer brawler playable on PC. Players can create characters and choose from different classes, then move across multiple screens defeating enemies. They can unlock new skills, level up, and collect equipment to improve their character. The game is still operating.

In 2012, an updated version called Dungeon Fighter Live arrived exclusively on Xbox 360, but was discontinued in 2015. The current mobile incarnation of DNF is Dungeon & Fighter Mobile in Korea. A fighting game was co-developed by Arc System Works and released globally as DNF Duel. You can check out Siliconera’s review of it at this link.

Project DW is in development for consoles, PC, and mobile platforms. It does not have a release window.
