Eight Years Later, Uncharted Waters MMO Still Refuses To Go Down

Uncharted Waters Online is one of those quiet free-to-play MMORPGs that’s been chugging along on its own little path for a while now—eight years, apparently. The game, set in the 15th century of naval warfare and the Age of Exploration, is still going, but will be seeing new leadership take over the helm of its steering ship as the reigns to its US publishing are handed over to OGPlanet.

Fret not players—OGPlanet has taken pains to prepare players for the transition come November 28th and current gamers will transition their accounts with everything intact over.

Current Players via Netmarble/gPotato can link their previous Netmarble account with a new or existing OGPlanet account when OGPlanet’s service begins (Nov 28) through here. Players via Steam are still able to play UWO via Steam, and can link their Uncharted Waters Online Steam account with a new or existing OGPlanet account now by following prompts when launching the game now through Nov 25.

For a historical game it’s pretty in-depth, boasting the ability to start as one of three classes—Adventurer, Merchant or Soldier—aligning yourself to historical maritime greats such as the English, Dutch, French, Spanish, Portuguese or Venetians. The depth doesn’t stop there, though, with over 75 professions and over 100 skills to master while piloting ye olde shippes like a Hansa Cag or Spanish Carrack. There’s even ship-to-ship combat with up to 200 ships floating around for both on-and-off ship stuff to do.
