HoYoVerse shared teaser art on social media for Ellen Joe from Zenless Zone Zero ahead of her debut as a playable character in Honkai: Star Rail. She will remain an ice element character there, just like she is in her original game. She is expected to show up in the game in the 4.8 update,
Ellen Joe will be a five-star character when she launches in Honkai: Star Rail. All of her attacks will deal Ice damage. She will also be a Destruction unit. This means she’ll act as a DPS and her attacks should be able to do both single-target and AOE type attacks, with multi-target ones being the focus for her skills.
It’s possible we’ll learn a little more about the Honkai: Star Rail Zenless Zone Zero crossover and what Ellen Joe and Astra Yao will do when the characters appear soon. HoYoVerse announced a Special Program will air this week going over 4.7. That starts at 4:30am PT/7:30am ET on October 30, 2026. The major character for that patch will be the five-star Aeon Aha. She’ll be playable following an appearance in the Planarcadia Trailblaze Mission storyline.
Honkai: Star Rail is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and Ellen Joe from Zenless Zone Zero will become a playable character in 4.8.
