Namco Bandai has been experimenting with different business models. They tried free to play games with Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation and Tekken Revolution. Now, Namco Bandai is dabbling with episodic games with Super Robot Taisen Operation Extend for PSP.
The story will be split into eight chapters and the first one comes out on July 18. All eight packs cost 5,980 yen ($60) or you can buy episodes individually for 1,000 yen ($10) a piece. The first episode will go on sale for 500 yen ($5) at launch. Super Robot Taisen Operation Extend has mecha from Macross Frontier, Keroro, Zoids, and a bunch of Gundam games. Aside from the business model, it looks pretty much like any other Super Robot Taisen game.
