I saw a glimpse of Etrian Odyssey Untold: Millennium Girl during E3 and the take home message is the 3DS reimagining is quite user friendly. You won’t get a balloon to fly around in like Etrian Odyssey IV, but you can warp straight to a staircase. Not initially, of course. You have to earn that privilege by mapping a certain percentage of the dungeon.
Etrian Odyssey Untold has a mansion as your base (talk about creature comforts) and inside you can talk to a guild keeper who can give you preset dungeon bonuses. Overtime she learns more skills and has abilities like the food system to lure F.O.E.s.
Players will also be able to customize their characters using grimoires. These allow party members to learn weapon skills, so you can make a healer who can use a bow in the back row, and skills from other classes. Certain enemy skills can also be learned through the grimoire system.
The build of Etrian Odyssey Untold was in English and Atlus plans to release the game this summer.
