Evangelion Farmer Rei Figure Ponders Rice and Ruin

Figure maker Kaiyodo has a new farmer Rei model from the Evangelion series. The figure costs 9,790 yen (approximately $90), including tax, and will ship out on May 28, 2021. Although Kaiyodo’s official site has already sold out, other sellers could stock the item or Kaiyodo could restock it. Rei’s design represents her portrayal in the Rebuild of Evangelion movie series. The farmer Rei Ayanami poseable figure is 160mm tall and comes with 16 pieces in the set. This includes different hands, two facial expressions, rice seedlings, and potatoes. Kaiyodo carefully selected which parts to include so people can recreate scenes from the movie. We have seen Rei in her agricultural getup with a straw hat and rubber sleeves in a recent TV ad promoting the long-awaited film.

The Evangelion pilot was turned into a life-sized figurine in March 2021. The poseable, 1/1 scale figure of Rei Ayanami appeared for the “low” price of approximately $18,000. After waiting several years, people in Japan finally got to see the fourth film in the Rebuild of Evangelion series on March 8, 2021. The movie has not yet released overseas. The farmer Rei figure is currently sold out on Kaiyodo’s official page.
