Sapporo Breweries has launched a crossover campaign between its Kuro Label Beer and the Evangelion franchise. It primarily features new illustrations of Evangelion Units 01 and 13 by Mahiro Maeda.
The new illustrations will notably appear on a limited number of Sapporo Draft Beer Kuro Label cans. The Evangelion Unit 01 image will appear on the 350ml cans, while the Unit 13 illustration will be available on the larger 500ml cans.
The Evangelion Unit 13 illustration also appears on a collection of merchandise available to order on the Kuro Label Club web store. The items range from a coaster mat that costs ¥3,300 (~$20.65), a tote bag costing ¥6,600 (~$41.30), to T-shirts that are priced at ¥13,200 (~$82.60) and available in two variants—regular and washed. The same store also sells a bar glass featuring Sapporo and Evangelion logos at ¥8,250 (~$51.60).
This collaboration appears to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Evangelion franchise. At the anniversary event held in February 2026, Khara announced a new Evangelion anime series that will have its story written by Yoko Taro and music composed by Keiichi Okabe, both of whom also famously worked in Square Enix’s NieR series.
The Evangelion-branded Sapporo Draft Beer Kuro Label cans, bar glass, coaster mats, T-shirts, and tote bags are readily available in limited numbers in Japan.
