Far Cry 6 Delayed as a Result of the Pandemic

Far Cry 6 is coming out in 2021. However, it won’t appear when people expected it to. Ubisoft’s FY21 H1 Earnings report included the announcement that both Rainbow 6 Quarantine and Far Cry 6 were delayed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The report explained exactly why both games have a 2021-2022 release window now. When talking about the delays, it cited “production challenges related to work from home” as a reason for both missing the expected launch windows.

A new release date isn’t available for Far Cry 6 yet. However, before the delay Ubisoft said we would see it on February 18, 2021. Also, due to data shown in the earnings report, the new release won’t fall until the next report, which means it would launch sometime after April 2021.

Far Cry 6 was only just revealed in 2020. It appeared in July 2020 during an Ubisoft Forward presentation. However, just prior to the official reveal, a Hong Kong PlayStation Store leak tipped people off about the announcement.

Far Cry 6 is in development for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and Stadia. It doesn’t have a new release date yet, following the delay out of February 2021.
