Square Enix announced the next two Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy characters are Firion from FFII and Balthier from FFXII, and both will join the cast on April 14, 2026. As usual with this entry, characters aren’t immediately in your roster when they debut, and you need to use Character Tickets acquired from events or pulling certain amounts of times on Ability gacha banners to unlock them. The company also confirmed it will hold a Sealed Crystals (Firion / Balthier) event to give people a chance to get Abilities for both if you go through Casual and Ranked Battles

First, here’s the Firion Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy trailer showing the Melee character from FFII. He’ll be a dedicated, short-range damage dealer like Cloud or Lightning, and he’s voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa. (He’s also known as Fire Emblem’s Marth, Gundam Wing’s Heero, and Persona 3 Reload’s Akihiko.) When the gameplay footage part of his trailer comes up, we see him use Blood Weapon, Chain Strike, Fervid Blazer, and Vortex of Arms.

With the Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy trailer, we see everything Balthier does and hear Hiroaki Hirata reprise his role from FFXII. He’s also a damage dealer, though he’s a ranged one like Prompto. His featured Abilities in the trailer are Blast Shot, Element of Treachery, Fires of War, and Piercing Shot.

As for the Sealed Crystals (Firion / Balthier) event, it essentially means the Sealed Crystals you gain access to after each fight have a chance of having these two characters’ new abilities. Missions will also feature some of them.

In case you missed some of the other playable members of the Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy cast that joined before Balthier and Firion, here are their dedicated trailers.

Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy is available for mobile devices, and we’ll see FFII’s Firion and FFXII’s Balthier on April 13, 2026.
