Square Enix revealed that the sailor uniform that Barret sports in FFVII Rebirth is actually his favorite outfit. A recent post made via the FFVII Remake project X (formerly Twitter) official account, revealed this info alongside sharing some details and renders of the outfit itself.
The post introduces the outfit as Barret’s “Junon sailor uniform” costume. It is the standard issue uniform of a sailor working aboard large ships and frigates belonging to the Shinra Electric Power Company.
Alongside the outfit itself, the post contains a short video showcasing a conversation between Cloud and Barret. The conversation takes place during Chapter 5, when the party is on board of the Shinra-8 cruise ship. The exchange is in Japanese and it roughly translates to the following in English:
Cloud: “Hey, don’t you want to change?”
Barret: “Oh this? Actually, I kind of dig it.
“It fits me, doesn’t it?
“I feel like a real man of the sea.”

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is readily available on the PlayStation 5. The exclusivity arrangement expired on May 29, 2024, so the game may appear in other platforms in the future like Windows PC.
