The company has also opened pre-orders for FFVII Rebirth: Dear Destiny on its Japanese e-Store site. The novel will be available at 1,760 yen (~$11.40).

The Japanese store page also noted that Dear Destiny will appear as a sequel to the Traces of Two Pasts novel from the first FFVII Remake entry. The latter appeared first in Japan in July 2021, and its English localization followed in November 2022. As a reminder, Dear Destiny is still only announced in Japan so far, and Square Enix has yet to announce when it will release the English version.

In a similar vein to the first novel, Dear Destiny will tell the stories of Aerith and Tifa that happened before the game’s main storyline. However, it will also add another tale featuring Cloud Strife during his tenure as a Shinra soldier.

The Japanese page also has the following descriptions for the upcoming novel:

  • “After the Church’s Guardian Angel flew away, the reunion in the Sector 7 slums made the cogwheels of destiny start to turn.”
  • “The two heroines’ big run-ups before the encounters and the start of the journey.”

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth: Dear Destiny will be available in Japan on January 30, 2026.
