During the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2026 in Anaheim, California, Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida announced that same-region player matching will arrive in FFXIV as part of the 7.5X patch series. This means it will be available for everyone to use ahead of the Evercold 8.0 expansion in January 2027. A test will be held in the Japanese version of the game ahead of its debut.
Yoshida noted part of the reason for the change is due to the stress from the Data Center travel system. Especially with people doing that to visit more Raid-focused Worlds. Once implemented, you can take part in “player matching from all worlds in a region.” That includes the Party Finder feature.
The test for FFXIV same-region player matching is Japan exclusive. Exact dates weren’t set. However, once that goes well, it will show up in the United States, Europe, and China. The goal is to have it up and running successfully everywhere before 8.0.
