The 7.57 patch is now live in Final Fantasy XIV worldwide and makes a major change to the Japanese version of the MMORPG by allowing same-region player matching for that physical data center following the feature being promised at FFXIV Fan Fest Berlin 2026. This only applies to Japan for now. It also means people playing in that region now can test out the new Visit Another World Server and see the new cross-world linkshells databases. There’s no word yet on when players in other regions might also get that feature.
This FFXIV same-region player matching change applies to all four logical data centers in the Japanese physical data center. This means people in the following worlds can now match in the Cross-world Linkshells, Crystalline Conflict Ranked Matches, Duty Finder, Fellowships, Party Finder, and PvP Teams. Their Friend List will now show Party Invites and Tells from folks in the physical data center, and the Free Companies will feature Chat functions.

The other adjustments in FFXIV patch 7.57 tend to be fixes or tied to the new Crucible Rankings Season 1 that starts on October 25, 2026. Beastmaster’s beasts will now change to face targets after being told to stay to ensure they’ll carry out subsequent orders. Capturing will also work as intended in Amdapor Keep, North Shroud, and The Tam-Tara Deepcroft (Hard).
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, the FFXIV Evercold expansion will launch in January 2027, and the Japanese version now offers same-region player matching.
