FFXIV Switch 2 Release Date and Pre-orders Open

The Final Fantasy XIV Switch 2 August release date is set and pre-orders for all FFXIV editions for the console are open.

At the Final Fantasy XIV 2026Berlin Fan Festival, Square Enix announced the exact August 2026 release date for the Switch 2 version of FFXIV and opened pre-orders on the eShop for the game. It will be out on August 4, 2026, and the free trial will be out that day. For about one month, there will be no subscription required, but after that there will be. Three versions will be available, and FFXIV Dawntrail will be sold as DLC.

The base version of Final Fantasy XIV on the Switch 2 nets someone the original MMORPG and the FFXIV Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers expansions. You also get 30 days’ worth of a free subscription. That’s $19.99. The FFXIV Switch 2 Complete Edition costs $59.99, though a pre-order sale is in effect until August 13, 2026 that makes it $41.99. With that you get the base game, the 30 days free to play, and every expansion up through FFXIV Dawntrail. Should someone grab the Complete Collector’s Edition for the Switch 2, that will be $139.99. A sale currently makes that $97.98 until August 13, 2026 too, though. It has the base game, every expansion released so far, 30 days of subscription time, and all the additional minions mounts, and weapons that were included in the original collector’s editions for each game.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, the Switch 2 version arrives on August 4, 2026, and the new expansion FFXIV Evercold debuts in January 2027.
