We’ll get to try Final Fantasy Resonance before buying it as Square Enix confirmed a demo will launch on September 3, 2026 during the Sony State of Play 2026 presentation. This trial will appear today. The announcement was accompanied by a trailer that also showed Sephiroth will appear in the game.

You can see the teaser for the new demo before. It shows how the Final Fantasy Brave Exvius story will translate to the new adventure and format, following that original mobile release. Both exploration and combat are highlighted. In the case of Sephiroth, we get to see the CG 3D animated segments, as well as part of the 2D boss fight where the party will face the familiar foe.

Here’s the video teasing the upcoming Final Fantasy Resonance demo.

Sephiroth marks the confirmation of yet another iconic enemy for Final Fantasy Resonance. Square Enix’s been open about talking about cameos so far. For example, it recently confirmed in August 2026 that we’d face Gilgamesh and Ultima Weapon in this game too. Lots of Vision characters who’ll assist the party, like Cloud from FFVII, will show up too.

Final Fantasy Resonance and its demo will come to the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on October 22, 2026.
