Square Enix is going all out with the TV spots for Final Fantasy VII Remake, as they’ve announced that they’re airing a 7-minute long TVCM, making it the longest commercial in terrestrial TV history in Japan. [Thanks, 4Gamer.]   015 016 The commercial features Masataka Kubota, who takes on the role of a boyfriend who never played Final Fantasy VII before.   017 The girlfriend, portrayed by Misato Morita, was once huge fan of Final Fantasy VII, but Kubota is described as being too cool and “uninterested” in the game.   018 However, after hearing about it from his girlfriend as well as his friend portraoyed by Tetsuji Tamayama who is also a big fan, it begins to pique his interest.   006 007 008 009 010 011 The commercial is packed with little references and Easter eggs for older fans in Japan, including a look at a beat-up official guide book from back in the day.   Fans will get to check out the commercial from November 2 starting 6:30pm JST to  November 3 at 9:54pm JST during the FNS 27-hour TV special on Japanese sports, but it’ll likely get uploaded online later for everyone else to check out.   Final Fantasy VII Remake releases for PlayStation 4 on March 3, 2020.
