While Final Fantasy XIII didn’t have any downloadable content, Final Fantasy XIII-2 will have a ton. Producer Yoshinori Kitase told Dengeki PlayStation their plan is to have one to two updates a month over several consecutive months. Kitase didn’t say how much each item would cost, but said the price will be balanced for the value of the content.

Players will be able to purchase new weapons, costumes, and monsters for use in Final Fantasy XIII-2. Kitase stressed that there would be gameplay mixed in. For example, you may have to defeat a monster to obtain an item. Kitase also said costumes and weapons will be displayed during event scenes. The development team is currently working on this.

Dengeki PlayStation asked a question about swimsuits and school uniform costumes. Director Motomu Toriyama answered it and said these kinds of outfits would be unbalanced for the game’s scenes.

A bunch of Final Fantasy XIII-2 downloadable content has been announced such as: a life stealing bow for Serah, a sword with a haste-like effect for Noel, a diva microphone, and Final Fantasy series ultra boss Omega. Square Enix will release the Omega boss battle or a special costume for Serah as pre-order DLC in North America.
