As promised during the latest Letter from the Producer LIVE, the special bonus video features Naoki Yoshida, Yosuke Saito, and Yoko Taro. Check out the video on the making of the Final Fantasy XIV x NieR series crossover below:

In the Bonus Episode – YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse we learn about how the crossover with the NieR series came to be. The video starts with talk from Yoko Taro about working around different rules than usual when creating content for Final Fantasy XIV. Considering it was his first MMO title work, Yoko Taro felt that it came with unique rules. He also remembered the Final Fantasy XIV team yelling “You can’t let the Warrior of Light do that!” after he wrote something crazy.

After wrapping up Return to Ivalice, the team needed something to do next, and they thought of NieR. According to Naoki Yoshida, it all started when he invited Yoko-san and Saito-san to dinner out of the blue without any sort of context. After two bottles of red wine and white wine, Yoshi-P asked if they’d like to work on something together. While Saito felt a little conned by Yoshi-P, Yoko Taro remembered that the steaks were very tasty.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for PlayStation 4 and PC. Check out the latest batch of info on Patch 5.3 in our previous report.
