Final Fantasy XIV Documentary’s Part 1 Is About FFXI Inspirations And Reactions To Failure

Noclip is releasing a three-part documentary series about the “death and rebirth” of Final Fantasy XIV. Here’s its first episode that covers early inspirations and the team’s reaction to its initial failure.

In the first video in our three-part series, we tell the story of how the 1.0 version of FINAL FANTASY 14 came to be. How Final Fantasy XI inspired its design, the ways in which the game fell short and how Square Enix and the development team reacted to its failure.

 

“Part Two: Rewriting History” releases on June 26 and “Part 3: The New World” will wrap up the documentary series on June 28, 2017.
