Square Enix announced that some chapters of two of its Final Fantasy XIV manga series will be free via Manga Up during the 2026 US installment of the FFXIV Fan Festival. FFXIV: Eorzea Academy and Saki & FFXIV are the two series affected by the decision. This applies to the browser-based versions on the official site and app. You don’t need to make an account to take part. A physical copy of the former and digital ebook version of the latter are also available.

Final Fantasy XIV: Eorzea Academy is an alternate universe manga series of side-stories involving FFXIV heroes and villains as students and teachers. It’s more of a slice-of-life affair. Stakes are low, and there’s no violence or animosity. One volume appeared, and the promotion on Manga Up means chapters 1.1 through 4.1 are now free for everyone to read.

Meanwhile, Saki & FFXIV is a more realistic and grounded story. It features a high schooler named Saki. Her and her friends are part of a mahjong club at their school. It involves the real-life club members starting to join and play the MMORPG so they can go on additional adventures and play the game there. Chapters 0-8.2 are free as part of the promotion.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the manga series FFXIV: Eorzea Academy and Saki & FFXIV are available to read via Manga Up. The extra free chapters of those two titles are free to read until April 26, 2026, which is when the US Fan Festival event ends.
